John Hallen

John Hallmen specialises in macro photography (which incidentally is becoming my favourite area of photography) but in particular, insects. The images he captures are phenomenal and show these tiny creatures in a whole different light. The image of the ant is so detailed and the second image shows the beautiful colourations on a fly of all things. The shot of the fly is aptly named 'sleeping jewel'.

It didn't occur to me that the setups for these shots would be difficult. The third image of the equipment is of John's studio setup. At this point, i'm not even sure what half of the stuff is, but John does explain how to achieve an affordable setup on his Flickr photo stream. More of John's work can be found on his website.
